2011 packers roster
Introduction
The Packers are coming off a remarkable season and have high expectations for this upcoming one. They added some great players to their roster during free agency, but several key players left via free agency or retirement.
QB: Aaron Rodgers, Matt Flynn, Graham Harrell
The Packers have Aaron Rodgers and Matt Flynn as their starting quarterbacks.
Matt Flynn, who was signed as a free agent after the 2011 NFL Draft, is the backup quarterback. Graham Harrell was drafted in the seventh round of that same draft by Green Bay but did not play for them until 2012 when he started against Atlanta.
RB: Brandon Jackson, James Starks, Ryan Grant, Alex Green
- Brandon Jackson was a good running back. He had more than 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons with the Packers and was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2009.
- James Starks was another strong option for Green Bay's backfield, rushing for over 1,000 yards each season from 2008 to 2011. In fact, it wasn't until he got injured that they found their next star at running back—that person being Alex Green who rushed for more than 1,000 yards during his rookie season (2011).
FB: John Kuhn
John Kuhn is a fullback, and he's been a good one. He's also a really good special teams player and receiver, which means that you can count on him to make plays in the running game or on punt returns. He was an All-Pro in 2011 with the Packers after rushing for 1,000 yards and catching 20 passes out of 24 receptions that season.
WR1: Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, Randall Cobb
The Packers’ receiving corps is one of the best in the NFL. They have three good receivers, and they can all be very dangerous when they are on your team.
First off, there's Greg Jennings. He has been a starter since 2006 when he was drafted by Green Bay at number 25 overall in 2007 out of Notre Dame University (where he played basketball). In his four seasons with Green Bay, Greg has amassed almost 10 touchdowns per year while also averaging over 1,200 yards receiving during that period as well.
Next up is Donald Driver who joined the team after being selected in 2002 by Detroit Lions Hall Of Fame quarterback Bobby Layne who had coached both men at Alabama State University years earlier before becoming an NFL head coach himself later on down history lane after retiring from football following several successful seasons coaching Alabama State University which included winning back-to-back NAIA national titles under Coach Layne's guidance back then so yeah folks let me just tell ya here today folks this guy knows what he's doing thanks again buddy love ya man I'll talk soon okay bye bye.
WR2: Jordy Nelson, James Jones
You can see that the Packers drafted two receivers in the fifth round of their 2011 draft. James Jones was a 5th-round pick and Jordy Nelson was a rookie. The two combined for 9 catches for 89 yards, which is pretty good considering they were playing against some very good defenses that season.
TE1: Jermichael Finley, Andrew Quarless
Jermichael Finley was the starter, and Andrew Quarless was the backup. Finley is regarded as one of the best tight ends in NFL history, but he has also had some major health issues. He’s now 34 years old and hasn’t played since 2015 due to a spinal injury that required surgery on both sides.
Quarless is also an experienced player who has spent time with multiple teams since entering the league in 2008 (including one season with the Packers). His most notable moment came when he caught a touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers during Super Bowl XLVIII against Peyton Manning and Denver Broncos; this helped seal an upset victory for Green Bay over New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey (which would later be dubbed “The Meadowlands”).
TE2: Tom Crabtree, D.J. Williams, Ryan Taylor
The Packers' tight-end group is small, but it's still a position that has the potential to make a significant impact on the game.
Tom Crabtree and D.J. Williams are both tight ends, while Ryan Taylor is a hybrid player who plays on offense and defense for the team. All three players are backup tight ends behind Jimmy Graham (the only current starter) and Lance Kendricks—and that's not even counting Martellus Bennett or Richard Rodgers from last season who aren't currently on the roster anymore either!
Crabtree has had some success in his career so far: he caught four touchdowns during his rookie year with Baltimore Ravens before signing with Green Bay this offseason after being released by them earlier this year when they drafted Tyler Eifert instead of him during the free agency period last year."
LG1: T.J. Lang
LG1: T.J. Lang
Lang started all 16 games for the Packers and had a career-high in tackles with 84. He was also a team captain for the first time in his career, serving as Mike McCarthy’s right-hand man on both sides of the ball during their run to Super Bowl LII. Lang was named NFC Defensive Player of the week after sacking Aaron Rodgers twice in Green Bay’s win over Chicago back in December 2017; however, he wasn’t selected as one of four alternates for next year's Pro Bowl due to missing two games due to injury (one knee injury).
C1: Scott Wells
You might be surprised to learn that Scott Wells is a center. He's been in the NFL for 10 years, and his latest team was the Packers.
Scott Wells was born in 1981 and played college football at BYU. The Packers drafted him with their first pick of 2004 (the fifth overall pick), where he would play until 2009 when he signed with their division rival Chicago Bears.
RG1 Josh Sitton
Sitton is a good player.
He’s the best offensive guard on the team and he can pass block, run block, and lead.
RT1 Bryan Bulaga
In 2011, Bryan Bulaga was a second-round pick 2010. He started 15 games as a rookie and struggled with injuries, but he showed enough promise to be named the starter for his second year on the team.
Bulaga isn't just one of Green Bay's best-run blockers—he's also one of the best pass blockers in all of football. He has been called "the new Clay Matthews" because he is just as dominant against both running plays and passes plays (and even better at stopping them).
The 2011 Packers had a very good roster.
The Packers had a very good roster. Aaron Rodgers is a great quarterback and Jordy Nelson and Greg Jennings are both excellent wide receivers. Donald Driver, James Jones, and Bryan Bulaga are also very good wide receivers for the team.
Conclusion
There were a lot of interesting players on this roster and I think it is safe to say that they had one of the best rosters in the NFL. If you’re looking for a team that can run the ball and takes care of business on defense, then this might be your best option.
